Community Sing

$15-$25 Sliding Scale. No one is turned away for lack of funds. Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 required.

Have the desire to sing with others but aren’t sure how to start? Want more confidence when singing in a group setting? In this gathering, we will focus on composer Pauline Oliveros’ Tuning Meditation. No preparation or experience required and “non-singers” are encouraged to join. We will begin with a single pitch and build a chorus. “Call it listening out loud” - Pauline Oliveros. While this gathering is geared towards adults, all ages are welcome.

A portion of proceeds go to the Fishtown Neighbors Association’s Mutual Aid Program which provides hot meal deliveries for neighbors in need. 

 

It is my goal to ensure that cost is not a barrier for this event. If you are enthusiastic about participating but are unable to do so because of the cost, let me know by emailing me at soniaavivavoice@gmail.com.

 

Tuning Meditation 

Inhale deeply; exhale on the note of your choice

Listen to the sounds around you, and match your next note to one of them

On your next breath make a note no one else is making; 

Repeat. 

Call it listening out loud.
